In the beginning In December of 1981 the band Prowler was formed consisting of bassist Andrew Gallegos, drummer Steve Cordova and guitarists Richard Christner and Cedric Griego. It wasn't until February that a singer suitable for the heavy style of music was found and as such Steve Montoya joined the group. Originating from Santa Fe, New Mexico, the band started to build a reputation and a large following throughout the state.
Steve Montoya a warrior of the stage. His words just as powerful as his voice.
Richard's unique style blended quick melodic leads with hard-driving rhythms.
Andrew is my first cousin. He is also one of the the greatest bass players I have ever heard. He once broke two string while play a song and continued on the other two strings that where left . It sounded incredible!!
Steve Cordova, hard at work behind his large drum set. Incredibly tight, Steve was the driving force behind some of Prowler's signature songs.
The music was a cross between heavy metal and classical music.

While craftsmen and painters were capturing the fanciful landscapes of Santa Fe, New Mexico, in their artwork, five restless young men preferred a more abstract, aural form of artistic expression. Thus, one warm day on 1983, these aspiring musicians christened their five piece union Prowler, in their search for that distinct musical identity and personality to call their own. Through the pages of time, changes prompted the quintet to relocate to Los Angeles, where they became increasingly well-praised by music critics and well-received by audiences. During their tenure in Los Angeles, changes kept taking place within the structure of the band, until they finally found the chemistry which makes Prowler what they are today: an unstoppable, ferocious drive force destined for virtual immortality. This imaginative quintet is more than just your average, run-of-the-mill heavy metal band in a large metropolitan city. Individually and collectively, the inventive and musically gifted members of Prowler boast long, hard hours of valuable session work and stage performance, where the group draw their creative intensity. They have been likened to other bands, such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, however their approach and delivery set Prowler in a league all their own. Symphonic melodies, combined with eerie yet concise vocal themes, make Prowler a state-of-the-art entity in the metal realm. Make no mistake: Prowler is a force to be reckoned with. As Prowler painstakingly creates moods on musical canvasses there are limited editions that may be timeless and imitated. Stay tuned .
